Public Meetings need to be held at times when residents are available and can participate in the process.Our Township holds a work session on the Tuesday before the regular Thursday Township meeting. The meeting is held in the morning when most working families can not attend. Once elected I will change this practice of conducting official township business in the morning with little to no public opportunity for participation. I will also conduct regular office hours at the Township where residents can come to talk to me one on one to discuss issues that are of concern to them. The reason for doing this is that many people are intimidated by speaking in public at a meeting. I will also require that all meetings be video taped and placed on the cable system or internet or both so the residents may tune in and see what is going on in their community. I will post minutes of all Trustee meetings on the internet ASAP. I will not allow cancellation of regular meetings with less than 36 hours. The cancellation needs to be published/posted. |
