Who I am.

I am a 39 year-old husband and father of five children ranging in ages from 5 months to 7 years. I work as a corporate tax attorney for Ashland Inc. (formerly known as Ashland Oil) in Covington, Kentucky. My family has lived in Anderson for three years + and we have loved every minute of it!

Why I am running for Forest Hills School Board.

First and foremost, I have five children that will go through the Forest Hills Schools. I want them to have the best academic experience possible so that they can compete and succeed anywhere in the world. Thus, you can say I have "skin in the game".

Second, I believe in serving my community. I am not a politician, and I am not interested in being an amateur politician. I am interested in "stepping-up" and offering my time and talents to a community I respect. I believe this community values education, and I believe its schools are one of its most valuable assets. Therefore, I believe that the school board is a very important institution. I want people in this community to have choices for school board, and I am ready, willing, and able to serve.

Why you should vote for me.

People should vote for me for several reasons:

(1) I have the relevant professional experience. As an attorney and certified public accountant (inactive) working for a large corporation, I have the skills and experience to make a significant contribution to the school board.

(2) I have the relevant personal experience. As a father of five, and an active member of our community, I have first hand experience of the needs of parents and students in our school system. Further, I have no agenda other than to listen to parents, teachers, and students, with an open mind and try to do what is best for the academic success of our schools.

(3) I am not an incumbent or amateur politician. Since I am not an incumbent, I have no agenda or vested interest in any prior decisions. I am a fresh perspective. Since I am not an amateur politician, I do not intend to campaign heavily for a position on the school board. The school board is an elected position, but it should not be a political position. We should not select our school board based on lawn signs or political campaigning. Our school board membership should be based on the quality of the judgment, experience, and priorities of the candidates. My judgment, experience, and priorities make me a strong candidate for school board.

What my priorities are.

My priority is to improve the academic quality of our schools. It is an established fact that education is a critical driver of economic success in our society. If we want our children to equal or exceed our success in this global economy, they have to be equipped with the best education. Academics has to be the number one priority. Our school board needs to stay focused on academic excellence.

My other priorities are to improve the math and sciences in our schools. I believe we need to invest more in the math and science curriculums in order to produce students that are best able to compete in this global economy.
