Councilman Mark Quarry is the ranking, tenured member on Silverton City Council, having served continuously since 1998, after serving as City Clerk for one year.

A native of Cincinnati and a 1990 graduate from the University of Cincinnati (BA in Communication Arts and a Certificate in Professional Writing, business concentration) Mark is the Director of Governmental Affairs for a national business association.

He is a Zone Captain for the Silverton Blockwatch Association, chairs the Spruce Up Silverton Committee and is on the Silverton Park Board.

Mark is also Silverton's representative on the Ohio Kentucky Indiana (OKI) Regional Council of Governments' Board of Trustees and the Hamilton County Storm Water District Oversight Board, of which he was Chairman in 2005.

Mark serves as Secretary of the Hamilton County Municipal League, is on the Hamilton County Tax Levy Review Committee and the Cincinnati Chamber USA's Government Affairs Council.

For the Hamilton County Republican Party, Mark serves as the Silverton Ward Chair, is on the Executive Committee, is a member of the TCV (Townships, Cities and Villages) Committee and is a delegate for the Northeast Hamilton County Republican Club.

Mark developed the Silverton Student of the Month Program and was the leader in getting the Winners Walk Tall Program started at the Silverton Paideia School. He also has served on the Church Council for the Hyde Park Community United Methodist Church.

Outside of City Council, Mark and his wife Jean enjoy their family time with their two sons. Some of Mark's other interests include golf, football, baseball, reading, history, politics, yard work and home-maintenance projects. Mark has enjoyed being a Silverton resident since 1993.

"We have made quite a turnaround from the tough times of the 90's, and Silverton continues to be a model community where racially-diverse, young and old residents alike, live, work and raise families together. Much work remains to be done, and I look forward to working with you on all the opportunities the future holds for our city."
