Fiscal Officer; Township of Crosby

I believe that the fiscal officer is the most important employee to the Crosby Township Board of Trustees. This position has various duties as defined by the Ohio Revised Code. One major duty of this position is the minutes of the board meetings. These minutes must be accurate, timely, and complete for the trustees to keep track of their important proceedings for future references. These minutes must also be available for the public and for the township examinations by the examiners.

But the foremost important duty of the fiscal officer is the fiscal responsibilities. The Ohio Revised Code spells these out very clearly in the codes under the legally designated township fiscal officer. This position must keep an accurate record of all township funds and transactions. The fiscal officer must inform and work with the Board of Trustees closely to assure that they have the most timely, complete, and accurate fiscal records.
The only legal qualifications according to the Ohio Constitution in order to be eligible for election as a township officer is a citizen, who is at least 18 years of age, who is registered to vote, and who has been living in Crosby Township for 30 days. I believe that the fiscal officer is not just a secretarial job with the side duty of keeping fiscal records but a funds accounting job with the side function of recording accurate minutes.
As stated above, the qualifications for this position are very general in nature. On my Nominating Petition and Statement of Candidacy for the township office, the statement "I hereby declare that, if elected to this office or position, I will qualify therefor" appear. I am aware of two instances where the clerk(fiscal officer) was not qualified in funds accounting either before or after taking office. The clerks in both political subdivisions failed to keep accurate record of all accounts(funds) and transactions resulting in additional expenses and problems with the state examinations. In one case, some of the elected officers resigned and some of the employees were terminated.
I have over forty years of education and work experiences in accounting related fields to qualify for the Crsoby Township Fiscal Officer. My family has resided on Oxford Road for over 21 years and love living in Crosby Township. Crosby Township deserves the most qualified person for the fiscal officer position. I believe that I am that person.
