I maintain a middle of the road polital view point with emphasis on the conservative side. I believe that less government is better government. The middle class is taking a beating financially at present. Our government should be shoring up our middle class by lowering taxes; especially property taxes. Environment: Formulate a true recycling program such as those in Europe and England. Stop messing around with red buckets for they are just a drop in the bucket. Respect: Several residents have commented on being disrespected or shown unequal treatment by city employees. All residents and/or guests in our city should be treated repectfully and equally and not one resident esteemed above the other. Pride: A former Mayor coined a phrase " The Pride Is Back". Many residents are upgrading their homes and turning 'jaded ladies' into beautiful homes. Our financial strength is in our housing stock and our community pride. Lets keep it up! Immigration: Our city should welcome all legal immigrants and visitors to our area and urge them to become a part of our community. Developement: Encourage development of our 'brown fields' and blighted areas and leave the residential ares alone. Property Maintenance: Hire another secretary and building inspector to shore up the building department with emphasis on absentee landlords as well as citizens that do not maintain their property. The taxing system at present for residential property is backwards. We should be lowering the property taxes of those owners that upgrade and maintain their property and raising the taxes of those who neglect their property.
