1. What are your qualifications for office? (50 word limit)

Answer from Jason D. Tonne:

I am an experienced attorney, have managed a business and have served on a variety of nonprofit boards in leadership capacity. I practice corporate law, real estate and zoning, and commercial litigation with a very reputable firm. Whether it is a zoning problem, contract dispute or a lawsuit, my job is to solve problems for my clients and I am good at it.

2. What plans do you have to address your top three priorities? (100 word limit)

Answer from Jason D. Tonne:

First, I will work to fight crime and keep our neighborhoods and schools safe. Second, the current Board has been doing a good job of revitalizing the Township with the development of the Stone Creek Center project, the Northgate Mall Renovation and Heritage Park, but we still have more work to do. I will work to bring more businesses, restaurants and stores to Colerain, without sacrificing the character of our community. Finally, all residents must be respected and be given the opportunity to make their voice heard, regardless of where they live in the Township and how much their homes cost.

3. State three actions that you recommend to promote regional cooperation, and explain how you would implement each action? (150 word limit)

Answer from Jason D. Tonne:

At the August Trustee meeting, I urged the Trustees to adopt a Sexual Offender Ordinance. This summer, the Ohio General Assembly passed a law giving Townships the power to pass sexual offender ordinances. In the spring, the City of Cincinnati passed a broader sexual offender ordinance that prohibits sexual offenders from living near a variety of places, including YMCAs, parks and day cares. If elected, I would champion a Sexual Offender Ordinance to place Colerain on equal footing with Cincinnati and attempt to discourage sexual offenders from moving from the city to our Township. I am sickened at the rise in violent crime in our Township and will try to increase the police presence so people feel safer in our neighborhoods, schools and business districts.
