1. What are your qualifications for office? (50 word limit)

Answer from Walter T. "Walt" St Clair:

My education, Customs experience, and eight years of experience as the City Auditor give me the knowledge and ability to perform this job in an effective and efficient manner. My knowledge of the City Charter enables me to address the issue of continuity and consistency in the City's financial operations.

Answer from Tom Kathman:

16 years as Treasurer of the City of St. Bernard. 6 years as Safety Director. 1 term President of Council Knowledge of functions of various City departments 24 years of service to the citizens.


2. What plans do you have to address your top three priorities? (100 word limit)

Answer from Walter T. "Walt" St Clair:

Payroll reporting software has been purchased and introductory training has been completed. Implementation is in process. Charts of Accounts from other municipalities are being utilized to redevelop our current Chart. Will lead a Charter review committee to implement changes in the City's financial organization structure.

Answer from Tom Kathman:

Listen to employee concerns at periodic meetings with representatives. Explore other possibilities. Institute an Employee Handbook


3. State three actions that you recommend to promote regional cooperation, and explain how you would implement each action? (150 word limit)

Answer from Walter T. "Walt" St Clair:

Work with the Center for Local Government to enhance cooperation efforts they have already implemented. Also participate in the Government Cooperation & Efficiency Project sponsored by Hamilton County and facilitated by Management Partners.
