Community Activist Robert Stanford was the first to complete nomination papers - finalized on 7/27/07. Stanford has thrown his hat into the ring for seat 1 of the Modesto City Council. Current Councilman Bob Dunbar has announced that he will not seek re-election.

Stanford has already started campaigning, courting both English an Spanish speaking voters with a plain spoken and straight forward three-tierd platform, consisting of directly impacting gangs, drugs and teen drinking.

Stanford is pushing for more support of local law enforcement and community awareness regarding more active involvement from citizens.

"I like the current leadership in Modesto right now. We are all on the same page. We have got to save the kids. We have got to save our future. Unless we remain mindful of the scourge of gangs, drugs, and teen drinking - our future is in tragic peril. When I am elected, there will be a constant and consistant voice for the basic human needs of the entire community. And today, the citizens of Modesto need to embrace local law enforcement and come together to defeat Gangs, drugs and Teen drinking." Said Stanford.

Stanford has been advocating for other incorporated cities in Stanislaus County to adopt social host ordinances in an effort curb skyrocketing rates of teen binge drinking.

Wateford, recently became the second city, following Modesto, to adopt the ordinance which holds adults reponsable for hosting parties at which monors are served alcohol.

"This ordinance closes loopholes in current delinquency laws that are pre-existing, thereby enabling law enforcement to take action in instances that they previously would not be able to." said Stanford.

Stanford's crusade against adult hosted teen drinking parties hit a snag June 9th 2007 - exactly 1 day previous to the twenty-third anniversary of the death of his foster sister, Katrina Proctor, killed in a drunk driving accident while returning home from an adult hosted teen party.

"It will pass in ceres. And in every other city throughout Stanislaus and beyond. These communities just want to be sure they are not opening new loopholes. It will be fine. It will save lives.
