City Staff - the Foundation of City Government

By Christine Wozniak

Candidate for City Council Member; City of Belmont

This information is provided by the candidate
The staff of the city of Belmont is the foundation of our government. They keep the city working from all angles. Supporting them is key to keeping Belmont moving forward.
City Hall

City Government is a combination of City Staff, elected and appointed officials, and all of the residents and business owners who choose to connect with the city by contributing their thoughts and ideas to solving problems and planning for the future. At the core or foundation of this triad is the city staff. As a member of the City Council, I will strive to maintain a great relationship with all stakeholders in our city, and particularly support the city staff.

That will be easy for me, since I have worked with many of them for years during my terms on the Planning Commission and have established great relationships with many city staffers.

We need to retain these committed city employees and do everything possible to support them. Competitive salaries and benefits packages are essential to retain and attract the Best for Belmont. In addition, most people stay with their jobs because they feel valued and like coming into work every day. So, next time you see something right going on, let the city staff know that they are doing a great job!

The people who run Belmont day to day, the gardeners, the electricians, the code enforcement officers, the police, the firefighters, the engineers, administrators, planners, Park and Rec staffers, Public Works, Finance, and City Manager staff keep the place running. They are dedicated to the welfare of the city, to your welfare.

City staffers tell me that they like working in Belmont because departments cooperate, because the city has some great and exciting plans for the future, because they like and respect their coworkers, and because most of our appointed and elected officials take the time to work with them in a cooperative manner.
