Thomas Paine "That government is best, which governs least."

Mark Twain "Buy land. They aren't making it anymore."

Winston Churchill "Those that are ignorant to history are damned to repeat it"

This country was founded on the principals of our rights to "life, liberty and the persuit of happiness." In this "City of Good Living," we enjoy the best of what life has to offer. Our safe streets, our great schools, our friendly downtown, our parks, our athletic leagues, our churches and our friendly, inviting neighborhoods all make this the best place to live, raise a family or retire.

I think we should keep our taxes low, support our schools, and encourage and recognize our incredible volunteer and service organizations. The Chamber of Commerce, the Rotary Club, the Lions Club, the Kiwana's Club together with all of our foundations, The San Carlos Education Foundation, the Youth Foundation, the new Parks and Rec Foundation, all make things happen despite seven years of budget cuts. Our city has managed to build the Adult Community Center, the Caltrain Grade Crossing, the Library, and the Youth Center were all built wiht little or no funding from our local government. It was volunteers, generous donors and outside grants that paid for most of these.

San Carlos has a long and treasured history of supporting entreprenurial, innovative companies in our incubator areas of the East Side. Tesla Motors is just the latest in a long string of success stories that started in San Carlos. We need to protect and nuture this ecosystem while also finding ways to secure our fair share of sales tax revenue from manufacturing and retail businesses.
