Dear Neighbor, My name is Richard Garbarino and and it is my honor to serve you at City Hall as your current Mayor.

As a 40-year resident of South San Francisco, I am proud of my service to the community as a city councilmember and citizen. In difficult financial times, the City Council managed to add new police officers, firefighters, and public works department staff.

As a result of the City Council's responsible financial management, all other city services for residents were maintained without cuts.

I am also very proud of the many other important accomplishments during my past term, including:

  • Bringing new businesses, both large and small, to our city including Lowe's, Peet's Coffee, and many others.
  • Establishing a new ambulance service for non-emergency medical services.
  • 700 new units of housing for all income levels, including affordable housing for seniors and young families.
  • New and planned childcare centers.
  • 4 years of balanced budgets.
  • Street and sewer repairs, additional library hours, a new central fire station, and many park improvements.

As with all cities on the Peninsula, we have our share of issues that must be addressed. I'm meeting residents and getting ideas about how to further improve our quality of life. Please take the time to learn more about my candidacy.

If you have questions or want to discuss anything in particular, please call or email me. I can be reached at (650) 872-1143 or via email at familyg18@yahoo.com.

Sincerely,

Rich Garbarino Mayor, City of South San Francisco
