Maintaining Services to Residents; Quality of Life for Our Communities

By Richard "R ich" Garbarino

Candidate for City Council Member; City of South San Francisco

This information is provided by the candidate
To continue to provide the services that residents expect and deserve, maintain quality of life in our neighborhoods

Rich has worked hard to help attract new business and good jobs to South San Francisco:

  • New businesses include Comerica Bank, Peets Coffee, Starbucks, Raison D'etre Bakery, Homemaid Ravioli Company, and Dudley Perkins Harley Davidson.
  • Lowes Home Improvement Center has broken ground on the east side of 101 which will increase sales tax revenue for the city and add jobs.
  • Additionally, our Biotech industry continues to thrive with expansions planned by Genentech and Elan Pharmaceuticals.
  • Two new office towers along the 101 corridor are being constructed which will attract new businesses and jobs.

Rich believes that seniors, young families, and all residents deserve to have a safe, clean place to call home. That's why he's committed to quality housing:

  • Over 700 units of new housing completed, with 436 units available as affordable homes for seniors and young families.
  • Passed a law requiring 20% of new housing developments be for low and moderate income residents.
  • City-sponsored first-time loan assistance program.
  • Habitat for Humanity is currently constructing new affordable condos.
