Recreation Programs, Library Services, Education & Child Care

Educating our next generation, and providing qualilty child care, recreation, and library services are important to our community, our youth and our seniors.
EDUCATION AND CHILD CARE

Rich has made improving education at local schools and expanding childcare slots a priority for parents and families:

  • Opened the new YMCA childcare center with 100 slots and planning for another 500 slots is in process.
  • Established a classroom science project program in collaboration with Biotech companies, the school district, and the South San Francisco Recreation Department.
  • Supported the national award-winning "Healthy Living" recreation program for pre-school and kindergarten children and their families. The program is being expanded into primary schools.
  • As a private citizen, secured funding for the Parkway Middle School computer lab and volunteers to read for 3rd grade classes at Los Cerritos and Ponderosa Schools.

RECREATION AND LIBRARY SERVICES

Rich is committed to ensuring that South San Francisco residents have quality recreation programs, library services, and parks and open space:

  • $80,000 secured for additional library hours.
  • $150,000 secured for new park workers.
  • Approved the Orange Park Master Plan with public input.
  • Started construction on the new Community Center at Orange Park.
  • Started construction on Centennial Park Phase 1 with additional park land to be added.
