For the most part, I feel that most of us candidates are concerned about those current and future issues that face the City of Millbrae. The number one concern being financial stability. With financial stability, most other issues can be addressed. The City Council needs to be every bit aware of monies taken in and monies going out (financial accountability). Like most of the other candidates my concerns and efforts will be concentrated on the following issues;

  • Activities and services orientated toward Millbrae Youths and Seniors.

  • Healthy community development and growth with respect and preservation for "Millbrae of Old". Preserve our "Open Space".

  • Pedestrian safety in Millbrae has been an issue for as long as I can remember, particularly along the El Camino Real. Proportionally, Millbrae has gotten more than its share of Vehicle-Pedestrian fatalities and injuries compared to other areas of San Mateo County.

  • Equal city services to all areas of Millbrae.

  • Public safety issues, Fire tax assessment monies-where does it go? What is it used for? Police department staffing and concerns for community policing at its finest.

  • Many families move to Millbrae for the benefit of our award winning schools. Of course "The Students" make this happen with their good grades. But let us not forget our competent teachers who more than make this happen as well. We can not lose our good teachers to insufficient salaries with overtones of area unaffordabe housing.

President John Kennedy once said "Ask not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country". On a Country scale I would say this to be true. However, on a Community scale my philosophy is "Ask not what you can do for your City Council, but what your City Council can do for you".

Vote the first name on the BALLOT (Rich Dixon) for YOUR #1 CHOICE for City Council.
