PUT A SCHOOL BOARD ADVOCATE WITH BUSINESS EXPERIENCE ON THE BOARD!

Like so many Americans, and more than 26% of Palo Altans, I am an immigrant to this great nation. Twenty seven years ago I left France, where I was born and raised, and had just started to work as an engineer, to study at Harvard Business School, in Boston. I loved the United States so much, that I sought employment here and decided to stay when Intel offered me a job in Santa Clara, just after graduation. I am 52 years old, so I have now spent slightly more than half of my life in the U.S., all in the Bay Area, except for the two years as a student in Boston.

My wife, Anne-Marie, and I moved to Palo Alto 16 years ago for one key reason: Palo Alto public schools. And we did this before having children. As you can see, we do believe in long-term planning!

We have three children, all enrolled in the Palo Alto Unified School District: two daughters in middle school and one daughter in high school. As parents, we are extremely pleased with the education that our children are receiving. We are very grateful to the wonderful and highly dedicated teachers that they have had over the years. We have a big stake in the future of our District.

As you can see below, I have been actively involved in our community right from the beginning, first with Cable Co-op, and then with our schools.

I would like to continue to make a positive difference in our schools and our community. I believe that at this critical juncture in our District, I will bring a skill set that is very much needed on the School Board.

SCHOOL & COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT

  • Several PTA positions, including Director of Education and Treasurer of the Palo Alto Council of PTAs, and School Board Observer.

  • As a member of the Steering Committee for Measure A, the school parcel tax, led 400 phone bank volunteers to success.

  • As a member of the Healthy School Lunch Committee, worked with the School Board to eliminate junk food. Co-authored a Nutrition Policy and helped improve lunch quality with a new food service supplier.

  • Elected twice by subscribers to the Board of Directors of Cable Co-op (former local cable TV company). Helped prepare the company for a successful sale that returned money to subscribers and the community.

  • Member of PAGE (Palo Altans for Government Effectiveness).

PERSONAL BACKGROUND
  • High-Tech Executive, 25 years of experience in Silicon Valley companies such as Intel, Adobe and start-ups,mostly at the Director and VP level.

  • Strong financial expertise, as a former Budget and Planning Manager.

  • BS, MSEE. MBA from Harvard Business School.

  • 16-year resident of Palo Alto.
