Smart Voter Political Philosophy for Pat Burt

Candidate for
Council Member; City of Palo Alto

This information is provided by the candidate

No dollar wasted: The boom and bust economics of recent decades have pressed hard on our city's bank accounts. Money is tight and our community's proudest civic possessions - green parks, lively community centers, cherished libraries and safe streets - need attention quickly. We need to re-think our long-term expenses and seek new sources of income. I will work to make sure every dollar does its job.

Innovation now: Our city has long nurtured people whose ideas that have improved the world. We need to reach out and listen. Venturing new possibilities makes economic and civic sense. I will encourage Palo Alto's community groups, businesses and agencies to collaborate efficiently and effectively.

Open government: We must let people know what, when, why and how their city and its government are doing. I believe we can share with each other in the fine democratic tradition of civil discourse.
