MPC is thriving! In the span of just four short years, the college has turned around remarkably. Three examples: Four years ago, we were losing students; this year we are posting significant gains in the number of students enrolled, and especially in the number of students of color. Four years ago, employee morale was low; now, our faculty and staff are excited about MPC and the prospect for the future. And four years ago our bond issue was languishing because few on campus were involved in the necessary planning; now all campus constituencies are working together to help plan our future and to build a better MPC.

All of the above are related of course. Administration has played a central role in all of this, and as chair of the committee that brought our new President to campus, I am proud to have had a small hand in its turnaround.

I have been involved in other ways as well. I have worked hard to help MPC assert control over its planning process. I actively helped MPC re-establish college counseling in Seaside, and I have helped strengthen the relationship between MPC and its Foundation.

Philosophically, I think of my role as a Trustee as community service in higher education. My only concern has been to help MPC grow and improve. I love the campus and the people connected with it. I believe I have demonstrated over the past four years that I have the expertise to help the campus achieve its potential, as well as the experience to know what to do and when to do it. I am running for re-election because I am excited about MPC, and I would like to continue the process.
