LOCAL KNOWLEDGE:

As a local, I have lived through the drought of 1975 when each of us was rationed 50 gallons of water per day. Seventeen years ago, I moved next to the Carmel River and each summer watch as the Carmel River is over pumped and transforms from a living vibrant river into a barren dry riverbed

I have also lived through the challenge of rebuilding my home twice after the Carmel River flooded in 1995. I was active in rebuilding my community and was appointed to the Carmel Valley Flood Task Force. Currently I serve as Vice-Chair on the CSA 50, a committee to advise the Monterey County Board of Supervisors on Lower Carmel River flood issues.

My passion for the preservation of the beauty of the great outdoors led me to become a member of the Sierra Club. Through the years I have served as both Chair of local Political Committee and on the Board of Directors.

Now, I serve on the Sierra Club's State of California Political Committee.

The many people listed as early endorsers recognize my leadership skills in both negotiation and mediation and the unique role water has played in my life.
