I am an educator with 40 years experience, from kindergarten through university. I have experience as a teacher and administrator. Most recently, I served as Provost and interim President of CSU Monterey Bay. My most satisfying experience is teaching new teachers. Since retiring from university administration, I have returned to teaching in the School of Education at CSUMB, once again in my most favorite role, preparing new teachers. I have extensive board experience as well. I serve on the Board of Directors, and hold leadership positions, with The Community Foundation of Monterey County and United Way of Monterey County. I also serve on the Board of Trustees for Monterey College of Law and on the Board of the National Steinbeck Center. This experience has given me enormous insights into the community Monterey Peninsula College serves. I hold a Ph.D. in Education from UC Santa Barbara as well as an M.A. from UC Davis, and a B.A. from UCSB. I have received numerous honors including being named as one of the top 80 Latinas in the U.S. by Hispanic Business magazine two years running.
