Richard LeGaspi was elected to the Norwalk-La Mirada Unified School District Board of Education in 1999 and was reelected in 2003. He served as the Vice President of the Board in 2004 and President in 2005. He is also a member of the Southeast ROP Board of Trustees and is currently serving as its President.

As a Board Member, Richard has worked tirelessly to better the quality of education for all students. He helped pass the 2.0 minimum graduation requirement and the 9 out of 10 student reading at grade level. He has worked on the Bill and Linda Gates Foundation and brought the international baccalaureate program to La Mirada High School. He helped pass Measure S, a 265 million dollar bond. Measure S will help modernizes the entire district and give all students the best learning environment possible.

Richard works for TNT Fireworks in their sales department. He works with nonprofit organizations to help fundraise and run the firework booths. Previously he was an Area Manager for Ecolab.

Richard has been very active in our community for many years. He currently serves on the St. John of God Fiesta Committee, Norwalk Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, Best Foundation Board of Directors and La Mirada Chamber Board of Directors. He is a member of the Norwalk Lions Club and the Norwalk Knights of Columbus. He was a City Commissioner serving on the Consumer Rental Mediation Commission and the Social Service Commission. He and his wife started and ran the SHARE food program. His commitment to the community has been recognized by the City of Norwalk and the State Legislature.

Richard has been married to Natalie for 19 years. Natalie is a City Commissioner on the Norwalk Parks and Recreations Commission. They have two children, Christina, who recently graduated from Norwalk High School and will be attending Cal State Long Beach in the fall and Joseph who is a sophomore at Norwalk High. They have been Norwalk home owners for 21 years.
