Dear Friend of Cerritos College:

Thank you for the privilege of serving you the last four years on the Board of Trustees. I believe my record has demonstrated a high level of integrity and commitment to the college community. I would like to formally announce my candidacy for re-election to the Governing Board of Cerritos Community College.

As a retired Cerritos College faculty member, I taught primarily accounting/finance courses as well as management and marketing. My formal education includes an A.A. in Business, B.S. in Business/Accounting, B.S. in Business/Marketing, and an M.B.A. with a Management emphasis. My education combined with my work experience at Cerritos College and other former employers qualifies me for the position of a Governing Board member. Additional experience includes a two year term as Vice-President of the Long Beach Area Council, Boy Scouts of America, ten years as President of the Board of Trustees of Alpha Gamma Sigma, Inc., a non-profit California corporation chartered in 1926, to fund community college scholarships. I have served as a club advisor to numerous student organizations for over twenty years.

Cerritos College is currently governed by a dedicated and cohesive board of seven individuals. We may not always agree on every issue, but we do have the common goal of always looking for what is best for our diverse student population. Our College Administration, while relatively new (three years and less tenure) is developing into an efficient and effective leadership team, while undertaking the enormous task of the renovation and transformation of a fifty year old campus to a new and modern, state of the art, institution of learning, in addition to their demanding job of the day to day operation of the college. Thanks to the voters of the Cerritos Community College District for passing our General Obligation Bond in 2004, we are finally beginning to see more construction on campus (delays of up to a year by the very busy Department of State Architects).

I became involved in the campus transformation shortly after my retirement from Cerritos College, by being selected as a community member of the Bond Advisory Committee. The committee recommendation was to go forward with the bond election. In the mean time I ran for and was elected to the Board and have continued to be involved with the transformation plan. I am looking forward to my continued involvement over the next four years.

I will continue to seek alternative sources of funds to expand, improve and develop new and existing programs at Cerritos College, such as Teacher Track, Automotive Alternative Fuels, Project Hope, Wood Manufacturing Technology, Allied Health, and as many others as the community requires to meet the needs and desires of our students.

Accomplishing my goal of four more years on your board will require a great deal of effort, time and money. I am asking all of my friends, neighbors, and former colleagues to help me in any way possible. At the bottom of the next page is a form to mark as you feel appropriate to show your support and return to the address indicated. Any effort you make will be greatly appreciated in assisting me to attain this goal and will help to ensure a positive future for Cerritos College.

I will be happy to answer any questions, or if you would like to meet with me and just talk, you can call, e-mail or write me at the following addresses. Be sure to visit my website for additional information about me.

Thank you,
