It is time in my life to give back to the community and school district that gave so much to me.

With four children in Manhattan Beach schools, I want to help the district to continue to improve the quality of education provided to our children.

My involvement for over a year on the MBUSD 7-11 committee gives me a unique perspective on the district's facilities as well as the community's short and long term views.

My goals are:

Academic Enrichment

  • Work with district administration and staff to continually improve and enrich the quality of education
  • Expand educational focus on science, mathematics, and technology
  • Increase support and involvement with SCROC program

Continued Financial Diligence
  • Continue along the path towards responsible and well planned fiscal management
  • Look for creative and innovative new revenue and funding sources to help put MBUSD on an improved financial footing
  • Reduce legacy debt from school construction projects and improve our constrained reserves

Leverage Underutilized District Assets
  • Help carry forward the work of the 7-11 committee as the board considers its options to better utilize the districts assets
  • Work closely with the City's community facilities planning effort to find "win/win" alternatives for both the city and the district
  • Initiate development of a long range facilities plan

Expand Community Involvement
  • Engage the community and school-related organizations to improve the district's communications and transparency
  • Work to better communicate and represent the quality and excellence of Mira Costa High School

Attract and Retain Outstanding Teachers & Staff
  • Look for opportunities to engage teachers and staff by providing them with an environment in which to provide rich educational programs
  • Teacher turnover was over 16% this last school year. We need to work to develop innovative ways to retain our best teachers.
