Candidate for
Governing Board Member; Mount San Antonio Community College District

This is a copy of information submitted to elections officials by the candidate

FREDERICK “FRED” CHYR AGE: 54
OCCUPATION: Governing Board Member/College Administrator

For the past 12 years, I’ve had the privilege of serving as President, Vice President and member of the Mt. San Antonio Community College District Governing Board. During that time, Mt. SAC has grown its reputation as a premier community college offering superior educational programs to 40,000 students.

Yet, our work is not done. California again faces a budget crisis, and Mt. San Antonio College needs continued strong fiscal guidance to maintain financial strength and ensure student access to classes. My 30 years of proven business and college administrative experience have brought focused leadership. I fought for a Balanced Budget Policy and led efforts to sustain healthy financial reserves while growing our standing as a College of Champions.

State Senator Bob Margett called me the “Taxpayer’s Advocate on the Board”.

Since 1987, our family has lived in Diamond Bar and now Hacienda Heights. We are active in church. My wife, Brenda, is a school teacher, and our son, Connor, is in fourth grade.

Education:
Masters in Business Administration

Endorsements:
MICHAEL ANTONOVICH, DON KNABE, County of Los Angeles Supervisor; BOB MARGETT, State Senator; ANITA PEREZ, President, Hacienda La Puente Unified School District Governing Board; MARTHA HOUSE, Past President, Mt. San Antonio Community College District Governing Board; ALBERT CHANG, President, Rowland Unified School District Governing Board; WALT ALLEN, Council Member, City of Covina

Re-elect Fred Chyr
