While I am a Governing Board member for the Los Nietos School District, I believe I am representing our community. Whatever events that happen in our community affect our schools.Recently, our community has sustained a tragic loss of a young man's life due to gang violence. As a community, we must ensure that all gang activity is reported to the police. We must be ever vigilant in providing a safe environment for our children and seniors. As a representative of this community, I will ensure that all available resources are utilized to provide a safe community. I have ensured that speed cushions were installed on Aeolian Street to slow down traffice in front of the school. Likewise, I am doing the same for Rivera Rd. from Pioneer to Norwalk Blvd., again to slow traffic down in front of Los Nietos Middle School. We must ensure our schools, businesses and homes are not tagged with graffiti and when they are it is removed and the people responsible go to jail. Any type of gang activity will not be tolerated! Our schools will provide interventions for at risk youth so they will have a choice in life. Together we can continue to make our community a great place to live. |
