Education and Qualifications:

Hon Lien's independence, business experience, fiscal responsibility and commitment to Mayor Reed's Reform agenda have earned her the support of our Mayor Chuck Reed, former Berryessa School Superintendent Pat Stelwagon and former Trustee Liz Chew, former Berryessa Citizens' Advisory Council President/co-founder Bill Hughes, and Councilmember Pete Constant. San Jose Police Officers' Association, Deputy Sheriffs' Association, Latino Peace Officers' Association, and San Jose Chamber of Commerce COMPAC also endorse Hon. Hon is committed to making City government open and accessible to all people. Hon's priorities: better and safer neighborhoods and schools; housing our young people can afford; creating jobs thus generating revenues for better public safety including fully funding truancy abatement and crossing guard programs, funding after school programs, fixing potholes and other street repairs, and environmental protection including our hillsides.
In 1978, Hon and her family escaped from Vietnam by boat. She has learned from the challenges in her life that good things only come from hard work.
