Occupation: San Jose Business Owner/Berryessa School Board Member

Age: 54

Education and Qualifications:

I am honored to be the top choice of voters in the March election. The San Jose Mercury News Editorial Board opined: "Kansen Chu Best Council Candidate: Based on his experience and his approach to some complex issues, he is the best choice for Berryessa, Alviso and North San Jose". Sheriff Laurie Smith, Congressman Mike Honda and many community leaders also agree.

I have lived in San Jose for 29 years and bring broad experience with a history of independent thinking and integrity. I have a master's degree in electronic engineering and own a small business in San Jose. I led the fight to stop construction of a crematory next to a local elementary school and to restrict operating hours for a cement crushing facility in Berryessa. I have served on the Restorative Justice Program and the Vietnamese Voluntary Foundation Board. A twice elected member of the Berryessa Union School Board, I helped raise student test scores and complete school construction projects on time and under budget.

My top priorities include open and accessible government, neighborhood services, economic development, managing the growth of North San Jose while maintaining the unique character of Alviso and Berryessa. I will be honored to have your vote.
