Judge; Court of Common Pleas; District 32

Judge Richard M. Cappelli is running for Judge of the Court of Common Pleas. Judge Cappelli has served as District Judge for fourteen years, being appointed by then Governor Robert P. Casey in 1992 and being elect to full terms in 1993, 1999, and again in 2005. Since Being elected, he has served as President of the Special Court Judges Association of Pennsylvania, President of the District XI of the the Special Court District Justice Association. He has also served as a member of he Ethics and Education Committees for the Special Court Judges Association of Pennsylvania.

Cappelli also spent three years as a Child Advocate in the Delaware County Court System and an additional seven years as a Master in Juvenile Court. He has served as Zoning Solicitor for Aston Township and Yeadon Township, and as Municipal Supervisor for Trainer Borough. He also served for many years on the P.C.C.D.'s STOP Violence Against Women Sub-committee.

Judge Cappelli graduated from the Widener University School of Law in 1981, after receiving a B.S. in Economics from St. Francis University of Pennsylvania in 1977 and spending a year working in the Delaware County Court Administrator's Office.

The Judge is the co-author and editor of the Bench Book for District Judges. He also founded the Mascaro Scholarship Fund, named for his predecessor and mentor, which sponsors a golf tournament to raise money for scholarships that have helped many children from our area with the escalating cost of attending college. He and his wife, Cindy Doubet Cappelli, live in Concord Township and are proud parents of their two children, Andrew and Amy.
