Less Is More. Less taxes. More money in your pocket.

By George P. Wood

No tax increase for the foreseeable future is an achievable goal. Newtown Square utopia is out of the bag. Everyone seems to want to live here. Construction has exploded and will surely bring with it addtional tax revenues. The sacrifices demanded by our courts on our neighborhoods to allow variances in residential zoning to commercial use must have a reward of lower taxes for those of us who have had to give up the country life in the name of progress. We can get it done with your help.
I will work to keep our residential communities from becoming the backyards of explosive commercial development.
The silver lining in all of this is the substantial new source of tax revenue that comes with both new residential and commercial communities. I will safeguard against consuming these new revenues just because the money is there. The cost of maintaining and expanding support in government services should not outpace the new revenue coming in with much left unspent. If we watch our spending there should be no need to increase taxes for several years. This includes township and school real estate taxes alike!
Along with additional new homes and commercial propeties comes additional people. Along with additional people comes the transportation to get them here. I will be a fixture with our representative in Harrisburg to get our share of improved roads and highways to accommodate this new traffic.
We must must be mindful of our elderly and look to ways to improve their quality of life, where others may not, helping them to live proudly. Our veterans need to know we honor and respect their service, displaying our thanks and appreciation often.
I will focus on harmonizing the operation of our government with the environment, going "green" where possible. As an example, many township vehicles can be hybrids burning less carbons. We should campaign for uniform recycling and the conservation of energy, and educate on just how to do that. Parks and open space should be preserved and nutured where ever possible. I hope to continue our efforts in advancing these valued concerns.
Contrary to the belief of some, one does not get rich working for the government. If we want to keep our good and experienced township employees we must be mindful of the needs of those men and women who dedicate their work life to serving our township.
With your help we can keep moving forward!
