Answering the concerns of residents in a timely manner

By Douglas F. "Doug" Williamson

Candidate for Council Member; Township of Upper Providence; District 2; Republican Party

This information is provided by the candidate
When a resident has a need or issue, that need or issue becomes paramount in their world and sometimes, of critical importance to them. A return call can ease that burden.
In today's very busy world, we see less service being offered in the retail and business world. When we call a phone number to get help, we usually encounter a computer voice with a menu running through endless lists of departments and none of them are the one we need!

As your Councilman, it is my job to answer and address your concerns. As our needs become marginalized by the everyday world, service from your Township Councilman should be the one constant you can count on. I pledge to contiune that level of service to the 2nd District and Upper Providence.

With each case, there are issues and details that need to be viewed, considered, and consulted upon in addressing the case. I believe that the most important part of my job in this process is to interface with residents in a forthright manner. For a Councilman, the easiest thing to do is say, "OK, you got it!", to a resident with an issue before actually checking out whether or not what they have promised is true and can be delivered. All that behavior does is create a situation in which the resident believes their concern is being met and addressed when the opposite is true.

I promise to tell you the truth when you come to me with an issue or concern. I will speak with the Township's professionals as your advocate and enlist their help to address a resident's concern. When it goes in the right direction and can be fixed or corrected and make the resident happy, that's great. If we find out that what is asked can't be done or can only be partially addressed, I will come to the resident and tell them the truth and try to explain why or why not something can or can't be done.

Rather than placate a resident with false promises, I will do my best to mitigate a situation in which their need is not being met. Together, we will take any additional steps needed to ensure that the resident knows exactly what the facts are in regards to their request for service. If their issue can't be done, they will know why.

I am available to my neighbors in the 2nd District through several methods, including the Township at 610 565-4944, at home at 610 565-5783, or via email at

dougw2nddistrict@comcast.net

Please leave a message about your concern and either I or the appropriate person to address your concern will get back to you promptly.

My mailing address is:

Doug Williamson Councilman, 2nd District 935 N. Providence Rd. Media, PA. 19063

In addition, I am still striving to create a 2nd District email list to use as a resource for Township information. It's pretty small right now (maybe 8 people!). If you would like to add your email address to the list, just send me a message to the email address above and let me know, and I will add you to the list!
