This information is provided by the candidate

Welcome! I hope that this information will shed some light on me and the reasons why I am seeking to return to Council for a full 4 year term.

I have worked at Boeing Helicopters in Ridley, PA. for 22 years, the first 15 in the machine shop. Since then, I spent the next two years at Delaware County Community College, helping laid off 1069 members get training money for school. When that program was finished, I moved into Boeing's Employee Involvement program as a Trainer Facilitator, working with union employees in high performance work teams. I remain in that position today.

I have been fortunate to have the opportunity and support to continue my education by attending Widener University in Chester, PA. for six years at night. I earned a B. A., Summa cum Laude, in Liberal Studies with a second major in Psychology and certification in Secondary Social Studies. Following that, I completed a M. A. in Elementary Education at Widener. I am certified in Pennsylvania to teach Secondary Social Studies and Elementary Education.

I have received many blessings in my life, including a good and loving upbringing from my parents, Roy and Dolores Williamson. Even though they have both passed, the example they set has lead me to get involved in the community in many different activities so I can share my blessings with others. I am a member of Nativity BVM in Media and taught CCD for several years. I have served as a Board Member for the United Way of Southeast Delaware County since 2003 and preceded that with 12 years of participation there as an Allocations and campaign volunteer. I served 7 years on The Employee Community Fund of Boeing Phila., with 2 years as Vice Chair. Every year, I enjoy visiting the Delaware County Special Olympics Summer Games at Penncrest H. S. as a volunteer with the UAW Local 1069 team. I have been going since 1993 and have brought both of my daughters along so they were able to learn about people different than them. I am currently involved in helping to start a new group, "Friends of the Media-Upper Providence Free Library" with Joan Hagan and Pete Alyankan of Media, and host of volunteers. The "Friends" will focus on fund-raising for the Library to help with the many expenses involved keeping our library at its current great level in these days of fewer dollars for their programs.

I currently serve as Recording Secretary and Education Director for UAW Local 1069, representing the production and maintenance employees of Boeing Helicopters in Ridley, PA. since 2002. I have been involved with many Local 1069 activities as well. Among those was serving as Editor of the award-winning 1069 CHOPPER newsletter, creating the Local 1069 Web Site, and teaching Union Leadership Academy classes for Penn State University, as well as active participation with other committees.

I consider myself a blessed man with a beautiful family and life. I would be selfish to not become involved as a community leader to help my friends and neightbors. I welcome your support to continue to serve the 2nd District, UPT, and its residents.

Thanks,

Doug
