Smart Voter Political Philosophy for William A. "Bill" Kress

Candidate for
Member, Board of Education; Ossining Union Free School District

This information is provided by the candidate

I believe in the Ossining school system. I am a second generation graduate of OHS (Class of 1979). I have 2 young children in the schools. I have been actively invloved in supporting the schools through my involvement with the Ossining MATTERS Education Foundation. I have worked with the foundation to help raise in excess of $200,000 which has been used to enhance programs in our schools. I have supported efforts to close the achievement gap that exists with minority students and efforts to further the school's successful science research programs. I believe that the rich diversity of our student population is one of our biggest assets. With the help of our literacy coaches, we will graduate students who will be bilingual and better prepared in our ever shrinking world. The district has shown its commitment to cultural arts and athletics. Our new library and athletic fields are the envy of many. I will continue to guide the district on the path it has taken and give every child an opportunity to learn and excel and become a productive and positive member of society.
