The City Clerk's office is the public face of the city. From my experience precinct walking, it has become evident that not only are people unaware of what the City Clerk does, many are not even aware that we have a City Clerk.

I want to increase community outreach and involvement. The Clerk's office can become the ultimate Customer Service point for the citizens of Redondo Beach by

§ Enhancing the accessibility and quality of city information, in turn creating more transparency in your government's operations

§ Expanding public awareness of the department's services

§ Increasing community outreach and involvement in city elections

Enhancing the Accessibility and Quality of City Information

City information becomes accessible to the community through the Clerk's office. I plan to save tax dollars and improve the city's service to you by increasing the quality and simplifying access to city documents.

At present the lack of online information can require inconvenient trips to city hall during the workweek. The technology and staffing to make these improvements already exists. I plan to make the majority of public records accessible to you online, 24/7.

To further enhance the ability to find a specific document online, records should be labeled with content-descriptive titles and interactive hyperlinks to result in fewer, more meaningful search responses.

Expanding Public Awareness of the Department's Services

I also feel that the public face of the city should be known to the public. I plan to...

Increase Community Outreach and Involvement in City Elections

Accurate voter registration information saves taxpayers money. It enables the city to provide useful information to residents about matters of importance to their families and businesses.

We need to consistently purge the voter rolls of people who have long since left Redondo Beach. We also need to update address listings for current residents.

This provides a clear picture of actual voter turnout and a good starting point for a drive to stir broader public involvement in decisions that impact our community. It also allows our city departments to make informed decisions based on valid demographics.

Good communication is key to the success of the City Clerk's office. Communication within the city government, of course, but more importantly, communication with YOU, the residents of this city.
