Biography + Bob Harrison

I was born and raised in Alhambra, California by two loving parents with 4 brothers and 2 sisters. After graduating from Alhambra High School I attended East Los Angeles Junior College, Sonoma State University and Cal State University at Los Angeles, from where I graduated. Throughout my college years and for 6 years after graduation I worked for various cities where I created, coordinated and led numerous recreational programs and events for many age groups, from children through senior citizens.

My wife and I will celebrate our 26th wedding anniversary this year. We have five children (3 girls and 2 boys). The oldest three are in college and we have one in high school and one in the 8th grade. They all attended or are attending schools in the Pasadena Unified School District. My family is a constant source of inspiration, motivation and much laughter. My greatest joy is watching my children grow up and become responsible, caring adults.

For the past 25 years I have been a partner at Green Street Restaurant in Pasadena. Our partnership is a family affair and includes my wife, her sister and brother and their spouses. Green Street began as a one room 18-table restaurant in 1979. In 1983 we moved to our present site where we employ 90 individuals and serve over 300,000 guests each year. Our partnership is extremely proud of the fact that we have thrived in a very competitive and often chaotic industry. We are proud of our involvement in the community, the role that this restaurant has played in so many wonderful and memorable moments of our guests' lives and the fact that so many people earn a living from being employed at Green Street.

I am active in my church, Neighborhood Unitarian Universalist Church of Pasadena, where I have served in many leadership positions including President of the Congregation. I am active in both my children's education and in their activities and have served in a variety of ways, such as little league coach, classroom volunteer, President of the Aquatic Boosters Club at John Muir High School, co-chair of the Principal Selection Committee (also at John Muir) and more.

I am also active in the community where I currently serve as President of the Pasadena Educational Foundation, an organization that raises awareness and funds for the Pasadena Unified School District. Last year I was honored to be selected by Aspires West as a Role Model for Youth.
