I will work for Neighborhood Councils: As a President of Van Nuys Neighborhood Council (VNNC), I fully support the NEIGHBORHOOD COUNCIL system in providing a means for stakeholders to express what is most important and vital to their quality of life.

I will create Community-Based Local Governments: We must create COMMUNITY-BASED LOCAL GOVERNMENTS that will be immediately responsive to neighborhood issues. We need to give problem-solving authority to those closest to the problem, who will take responsibility for these issues and be accountable to the local community.

I will offer a Civic Specialist: A practical extension of this Community-Based Local Government outreach program will be the placement of ultra knowledgeable, highly trained, multilingual research specialists sitting in my field offices. They will understand it and make it verbally clear to all that ask, so that my busy constituents can be informed quickly, and get back to their business.

I will secure a Trade School in the Valley: We need to have more and better education readily available for people that cannot afford, or otherwise choose not to obtain higher education. I will push for more state approved and accredited trade schools which will benefit both the student, and the community. The student can embark on a career full of promise; and the community will reap the rewards of an enhanced labor pool .Guns and spray cans will be replaced with tools of the trade, and the promise of tomorrow's successes.

I will Introduce Gang Alternatives: We must offer our younger citizens viable alternatives to joining gangs. By making education interesting and relevant to at-risk youth, our youth can choose the kind of future they desire. One very real alternative is in providing expanded and enhanced TRADE SCHOOLS, where we can offer a REAL CHOICE with immediate employment opportunities, financial rewards, and the opportunity for a fruitful future.

I will ensure a Responsible LA Animal Services Department: There are too many loose animals roaming our streets. To gain control of this we need to provide FREE SPAY AND NEUTERING SERVICES to all L.A. residents. We must also ensure that this situation steadily improves into the future by providing an array of educational programs and training targeting every member of the community. I believe in NO KILL SHELTERS and will work very closely with Animal Services, Rescue Groups, and organizations that promote animal welfare to reach this goal. I will also seek to open more PET PARKS throughout our city; and will push for swift and strong punishment against those who abuse animals.
