Lack of community voice

By David Glenn "Dave" Cain

Candidate for Council Member; City of Los Angeles; District 2

This information is provided by the candidate
The lack of community involvement in how the area is developed or grows, removes our choice in the life style we want to lead,or the type of neighborhood we live in.
By effectively removing the communities input from the planning and zoning process, our officials take away our choice in the type of environment our town becomes. Rezoning without the communities being informed gives the power to the city, to decide what goes into or is developed in our areas. Horse properties suddenly become condos, parks become industrial property and farm land becomes housing tracts.

The fact that a planner who has never even been to your neighborhood, draws a line and arbitrarily decides the ultimate fate of our community without any consideration for the needs of that community is abhorrent. Add to this the evidence that the choices they make seem to profit special interests not the community. When do we get leadership that cares for the needs and concerns of our communities first? The policy of giving special interests exceptions to specific plans and general city plans(supposed to protect us)or are ignored depending on how much money is involved, seriously undermines the rights and quality of life of the residents of this city.
