As a parent and a community member I have a great concerned over the administrative and educational state of our school district. I see strong evidence of inequity and oversight when it comes to low income children and families.

I'm running for two important reasons: to restore a sense of unity and purpose in providing quality education to all of the district's children; and to promote equality in the allocation of our educational resources by fostering effectiveness and efficiency in district operations.

I want to help to ensure that our school district reflects our great thriving communities. I want to see that there is a structure in place to engage and empower parents from all socio-economic levels.

As a board member, I plan to advocate at the state and federal level on any issues that cannot be resolve at the local level.

PRIORITIES IF ELECTED:

- I will ensure responsible fiscal management and equitable resource distribution so that the resources actually reach schools. I will promote community-driven policy for program placement and student assignment -- no more school closures without a plan.

- Support educational reforms to close existing achievement gap and to help our children reach their full-potential while preparing for college or to join a work-force; secure greater access to AP classes; promote career and technical education for high school students to enable them to compete in the global economy.

- Engage families and communities in forming partnerships with schools to further enhance educational experience for all children. Together, we will support our students, our teachers and our schools!
