COMMUNITY AND FAMILIES EMPOWERMENT

By Milena Albert

Candidate for Board Member; Pasadena Unified School District; Seat 4

This information is provided by the candidate
Board members should serve as voices of our families and communities and engage them to become partners with schools.
I believe that one of the top reasons for the birth of public schools was to strengthen and improve local communities by educating new generations. Great students make great citizens. As such, all communities should always be invited and encouraged to participate in the decision making process of local schools.

Pasadena, Altadena, Sierra Madre, and our immigrant communities have different needs and these needs must be reflected in the design of our educational and administrative programs to produce equitable outcomes. As such an ongoing outreach into all communities should take place in order for the district to identify these needs and ensure their fulfillment. We should maintain open door policy and always make sure that we remain the voices of our communities and our children.

We must engage and empower parents. Strong families build strong communities.
