The proposed Charter Amendment would impose an extendable time limit on the completion of the environmental review process. Currently, there is no time limit for the preparation of a draft environmental impact statement, which contains all of the environmental studies and analyses for a particular project. The proposed Charter Amendment would NOT impose a time limit on that part of the process. However, the Charter Amendment would require that the environmental review process be completed within one year after the draft environmental impact statement is published for public comment. That one year time period would be extendable by mutual agreement of the applicant and whatever City of Yonkers agency conducts the environmental review.
