  • Catharine M. Young earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Mass Communication at St. Bonaventure University, and also attended SUNY Fredonia.
  • Prior to her election to the Senate in 2005 to complete the term of the late Patricia McGee, she served as a major in the Civil Air Patrol, USAF
  • Held a seat in the NY State Assembly for District 49 (1998-2005), acting as Assistant Minority Leader Pro Tem of the Assembly in 2005.
