Questions & Answers

1. Public education is financed through property taxes and state funds. What other means of raising revenue would you support?*

Instead of looking for additional funds from other means, we should evaluate the funds currently being given to schools. In addition, Long Island schools need a person in Albany who will fight for a more equitable distribution of state funds. More state funds for Long Island schools as well as a review of school spending would lessen, if not eliminate, the need for additional funding.

2. Legislative districts have been determined on a partisan basis. Would you support establishing an independent commission as a more open and ethical way to create the districts? Please explain.*

By establishing an independent commission, partisan politics can be taken out of the equation and districts can be more fairly created.
