My Vision for our Schools

By Dick Massa

Candidate for Board Member, 4 Year; Oxnard Elementary School District

This information is provided by the candidate
Our Schools Can and Must do better.
Oxnard's schools can and must do better!

The future of our community, our state and our country lies in the hearts and minds of our children and our children's hearts and minds are shaped by the quality of their education.

As a trustee on the Oxnard School District Board of Trustees I will work tirelessly to ensure that Oxnard's children are afforded the highest quality education.

I will strive to solve the problems that keep some of our schools under the yoke of state mandated "school improvement" programs . I will seek to return to a focus on the basics, developing our children's reading, writing and math skills. I believe that no child should be moved on to the next grade without the knowledge he or she will need to be successful.

I will maintain and build upon our strong and dedicated staff of professional educators by making Oxnard School District's salaries and benefits reflective of their high levels of education, training and responsibility.

As a retired businessman with 25 years of management experience and who successfully ran my own company, I will bring the skills and experience to the Oxnard School District Board of Trustees that it currently lacks. My success in business came from listening to the people who worked for me--my employees--and to the people I worked for--my customers--and then meeting the needs of both. It is a winning formula and it will work in the business of making Oxnard's elementary and intermediate schools the best!
