Tax Consolidation, Tax Reduction

By Michael S. Metti

Candidate for United States Senator

This information is provided by the candidate
Taxes aren't the price we pay to live in a free society, they're the price of our chains. The more we're forced to pay, the heavier the chains become
Taxes are compulsory revenue collected to run the government. The more our government does, the more revenue it will require. Today, the government requires huge revenues at every level, because politicians have seen to it that government should do so much. There was a time when we could run our government on import and export tariffs, but that was back in the early 1900's when we were self reliant.

Today we're faced with a gauntlet of taxes. Income tax, sales tax, property tax, gas tax, luxury tax, phone tax, inheritance tax, business taxes, state taxes, county taxes and city taxes and that isn't all. There are regulatory, permit and licensing fees. You know the ones for your drivers license, fishing permit and building permits just to name a few. These are the ones you pay after you wait in line for an hour and get treated like you're someone special. Think what all these taxes and fees are doing to the cost of things you want to do or buy.

Well I have good news for you; I don't think that government should be so involved in our lives. I want limited government. As we work to get our government within its constitutional boundaries, we should start benefiting quickly from its cost reduction.

I propose that we first consolidate our tax structure. Then start reducing taxes based on the programs we eliminate and put back into the market place. This will not be an easy task. Most elected officials, bureaucrats and special interest groups will not go along with giving up the power that they currently possess over us.
