I oppose ongoing participation against Iraq, which had nothing to do with the 9/11 attack, and has become a terrorist recruiting station.

By Ernie Lippe

Candidate for United States Representative; District 53

This information is provided by the candidate
No more American blood should be shed in Iraq, a country immersed in civil war and hatred for America. Iraq will have to deal with its internal problems. America should deal later with the Iraq government Iraq citizens select.
America is engaged in the Iraq War because of lies expressed by the Bush Administration. The 9/11 Commission concluded that Iraq was not the cause of the attack on the World Trade Centers. Iraq possessed no WMD's. If elected, I would join with members of Congress who also oppose our presence in Iraq. I would urge an immediate withdrawal, and cannot justify the continued carnage of our troops. Congress should cut off all funding for this war now! Anything less than that is morally reprehensible and an indication that the wrong people occupy Congress. Congress has abdicated its constitutional responsibilities to allow this president to declare war, deceiving the American people. To not restore the balance of power between the legislative and executive branch is most dangerous and costly. A dictatorship has developed. If this is a just war, then let the relatives of Congressional members fight it, and stop sending our men and women who have been duped into thinking that Iraq was our enemy, when it's been Osama bin Ladin all along. The Iraq War has been over oil and no blood should be shed for it.
