I intend to be your next Congressman.

That may sound a bit funny since I am not a politician. Nor do I expect to become one...at least in the typical sense.

  • I am a father and husband who has a responsibility to help keep our community safe for our children and welcoming to our families.

  • I am a neighbor and a friend who wants to preserve the beauty and add to the vibrancy of Sonoma and Marin.

  • I am a businessman who understands how tough problems can be solved through hard work and common sense.

  • I am a taxpayer who knows we deserve better representation and better behavior in Washington D.C.

  • And, I am a practical person who will focus on the most important issues we share and control, and get them solved.

At 45 years of age, I am a partner with a global management consulting firm in San Francisco. I work with CEOs and other senior managers at major retail, consumer packaged goods, and apparel companies across the United States, as well as in Europe and Asia. In addition to leading the firm's national strategy practice, I have helped raise a successful private equity fund.

Born and raised in the suburbs of Chicago, I graduated from the University of Notre Dame with High Honors. After working several years as a consultant at an international human resources consulting firm, I earned my MBA from the University of Chicago.

One of the earliest memories my wife, Nancy Chung Hooper, has of our courtship is my distributing brochures in Chicago neighborhoods for Ron Gidwitz, a former GOP candidate for Governor in Illinois. She accepted my proposal anyway, and we were married in 1990.

About two years later, we jumped at the chance to live in the Bay Area. Our first daughter Madeline was born in San Francisco. Sophia, our second child, was born at Marin General Hospital. We have all lived in Marin since 1994.

The four of us enjoy the many advantages of Marin and Sonoma. Among my wife's and my greatest pleasures are volunteering at our daughters' schools and attempting to keep up with our dynamic duo on the tennis court.

This remarkable place is our home. This is a place that I will work to protect and strengthen.

I invite you to learn more about my principles and views on the issues that challenge us today. Thank you for taking the time to meet me. I look forward to meeting you.
