Keeping America Free

By E. Kent Hinesley

Candidate for United States Representative; District 2

We must make sure that the tools used to fight against terrorism are not turned on us.
Even with the threat of terror, I still believe in the 4th amendment witch requires a warrant and establishes the need for probable cause before law enforcement engages in surveillance activity. It was put into the Constitution for good reason.
My greatest concern is that we as Americans do not loose our ideals. We must protect ourselves from an over intrusive government as well as from outsiders who want to do harm to our country.
Osama Bin Laudin once said that it was his goal to make America a shadow of itself. If we loose the very ideals this country was founded upon in our pursuit of stopping terrorism than indeed America will become a shadow of itself. And when children rise to say the pledge of allegiance in schools across the country and say "with liberty and justice for all", they will just be reciting empty words form a great nations past.
