Terry lives in Danville with his wife, Luci, and their three children. He is a consumer attorney and partner in the San Francisco law firm of Pillsbury & Levinson, where he represents small businesses and individuals against large insurance companies that refuse to pay legitimate claims. Raised in Stockton, Terry is a graduate of the University of California at Berkeley and graduated magna cum laude from the University of San Francisco School of Law.

Terry has had a life-long commitment to community and public service, including work on behalf of the Stockton Shelter for the Homeless, St. Vincent de Paul Society serving needy families, and other community outreach organizations. He serves on the Boards of non-profit organizations supporting Catholic schools and helping disadvantaged students. In recognition of his work, Terry received the Distinguished Services Award from consumer attorneys for his commitment to community service.

A former Republican who now calls himself a "skeptical Democrat", Terry hopes to end the partisan bickering in Sacramento and wants to represent our community by blending ideas to find solutions. He has proposed a law to make it easier for independent voters who "decline to state" a party preference to run for office. Today, Republicans and Democrats qualify for the ballot by submitting 40 signatures, but an independent voter must collect more than 8,000 signatures. "That's wrong," Terry says, "And until we change it, we'll be forced to choose candidates how adhere to party dogmas that no longer fit California." His website, http://www.IndependentChange.org is devoted to this issue.
