Jill Buck Biography

Upon graduation from the University of Illinois in 1991, Jill Buck was commissioned a Naval Officer. While stationed at the Fleet Training Center, San Diego, she served as the Legal, Physical Security, Admin, and Command Inspection Officer, as well as a Damage Control Instructor. She is an honor graduate of the Military Justice School, and a graduate of the Navy's small arms weapons course, taught by former Navy Seals.

In 2002, Jill wrote the Go Green Initiative, which is now the largest and fastest growing comprehensive environmental education program in the nation, operating in 16 states, the UK, and in Cameroon, Africa. The program has been endorsed by the National School Boards Association (NSBA), National Recycling Coalition, 5 State PTA's, California Integrated Waste Management Board, California Resource Recovery Association, and many more. Jill is a featured speaker at environmental and PTA conventions across the country, and has been featured in such publications as U.S. Mayor, NSBA newsletter, Working Mother Magazine, Women's Health Magazine, Diablo Magazine's "Women to Watch", for more information, see: http://www.gogreeninitiative.org.

Jill's community service includes;

  • Vice President, East Bay chapter of the California Elected Women's Association
  • Board Member, Bay Area chapter, California Women's Leadership Association
  • Member of the Pleasanton and San Leandro Chambers of Commerce
  • Catechism teacher for the Catholic Community of Pleasanton- 7 years
  • Founder/1st President, Walnut Grove Elementary PTA- 2 terms
  • Founder/1st President, Pleasanton PTA Council, representing 5,000 members
  • PUSD Budget committee, overseeing a $100 million budget; PUSD Student Achievement committee, overseeing curriculum, homework and grading; and PUSD Environmental Awareness committee
  • Appointed by Mayor Jennifer Hosterman to the Pleasanton Energy Committee
  • Graduate of the Pleasanton Citizen's Police Academy
  • San Francisco Veteran's Affairs Commission, co-chair of subcommittee to aid homeless and disenfranchised Veterans
  • Founded the District 57 Toastmasters Speakers Bureau for Northern California

Recent awards include:
  • Letter of Commendation, City of San Jose for Go Green Initiative work
  • City of Pleasanton's "Integrity Award"
  • Presidential Letter of Congratulations from President George W. Bush
  • Governor Schwarzenegger's Recognition for Environmental Leadership
  • Honorary Service Award from California State PTA and Pleasanton PTA Council

Jill owns her own business, Buck Consulting, and lives in Pleasanton, CA with her husband, Mark, and three children, Katie, Andy and Mandy.
