Years of City Hall neglect have cast a shadow over much of our district. Our streets are crime ridden. Our commercial corridors are economically depressed. Parts of our district are mired in levels of unemployment three times higher than the city average. And unbridled development threatens not only to change the character of our neighborhoods, but is pushing our working class families out.

The promise of District elections was that we would finally have one of our own fighting for us at City Hall. But six years later, I ask you, are our schools any better, are our small businesses any stronger, are our streets any safer? The answer is clearly a resounding no.

That is because only actions and not words solve problems, and we have been offered only feel-good slogans. We, the residents of the Southeast, have real problems and we want real solutions. We deserve better than the last six years of wasted opportunities, ours is a crisis of leadership and that is why I am running for Supervisor.

As your supervisor, I will remain committed to empowering our community by being an unyielding advocate, who brings our voice to bear and carries our vision forward at City Hall.

I am neither a career politician nor a crusading ideologue, but rather, a solution oriented troubleshooter, with extensive business experience and a proud record of grassroots community leadership. As president of the District 10 Council, a district wide advisory body reflective of all our distinct neighborhoods, I am already tackling district issues and I have gained a clear vision for a revitalized District 10.

My vision is one of a District 10 with top-notch schools, better preparing our children to compete for good, high paying jobs.

My vision is one of a District 10 with safe neighborhood streets, free from drugs and violence, where our seniors can walk without fear.

My vision is one of a District 10 with our small businesses thriving in beautified neighborhood commercial corridors.

Yes, I believe that District 10 residents deserve a better quality of life, like that enjoyed by the rest of this city. And yet, I also believe we can improve upon the delivery of our city services, while still maintaining a balanced budget, simply by exercising the same fiscal discipline and accountability that working class families are compelled to use at home.

My goal is simple, to take action and get results. Be assured, I will not side-step challenge, rather I intend to be the kind of supervisor who places himself into the very thick of the fight. This is about leadership, not salesmanship ... about commitment, not complacency. Join me and together we can make this vision for a better future, our District 10 reality.
