Rudy Ramirez's Priorities for Chula Vista City Council

By Rudy Ramirez

Candidate for Council Member; City of Chula Vista; Seat 1

This information is provided by the candidate
Dear Chula Vista Voter,

I am a lifelong Chula Vista resident and local business owner, with over 13 years of volunteer experience on City Commissions. As you may know, I received the most votes of any candidate in the June 6th primary election for Chula Vista City Council Seat 1. I am excited that my message of reform and greater openness at City Hall struck a chord with voters.

My goal is to improve public confidence in local government by encouraging citizen involvement, creating a more open government by reducing the influence of lobbyists and special interest groups, and enacting back to basics budget reforms to fund local priorities like traffic improvements and public safety first.

In addition, I will work for:

  • a Police storefront in East Chula Vista to increase police visibility and reduce response times,
  • redevelopment policies that protect community character and harmonize change, while preventing high-rise development in historic downtown Chula Vista,
  • a greenbelt trail system + linking our open space in a 28-mile loop around Chula Vista for walkers, runners, bicyclists, and equestrians,
  • municipal WIFI for Citywide wireless internet access, and
  • a University and research center to bring jobs and opportunity.

Warm regards, Rudy Ramirez
