Ballot Statement

By Tracy L. Peterson

Candidate for Board Member; Leucadia Wastewater District; Full Term

This information is provided by the candidate
As a former employee (1996-2000) of Leucadia Wastewater District, I am aware of and understand the issues, concerns and decisions faced by the governing body. The District population has grown tremendously and the existing infrastructure needs to be maintained, while additional infrastructure is added to accomodate the growth.

My professional qualification as a Certified Internal Auditor ensures that a member of the Board will have meaningful oversight of District resources and programs, keeping fees and assessments low. As an employee, I was subject to all Board decisions regarding compensation and benefit programs. As a Board member, I will represent the District constituents and support the staff knowledgeably and fairly in all matters.

The Board and District must be proactive rather than reactive when it comes to further residential and commercial development within its service area, and expand its water reuse and recycling program to minimize wastewater discharge. The District has a tremendous opportunity to further the application of reclaimed wastewater for irrigation, preserving one of California's most precious resources -- its clean water supply.
